Vinagrito is a little cat

Que parece de algodón.

That seems like cotton.

Es un gato limpiecito,

He's a neat cat,

Relamido y juguetón.

Licking himself and playful.

Le gustan las sardinas

He likes sardines

Y es amigo del ratón,

And is friends with the mouse,

Es un gato muy sociable,

He's a very sociable cat,

Mi gatico de algodón.

My little cotton cat.

Yo le puse vinagrito,

I named him Vinagrito,

Por estar feo y flaquito,

Because he was ugly and thin,

Pero tanto lo cuidé

But I took care of him so much

Que parece vinagrito,

That he looks like Vinagrito,

Un gatico de papel,

A little paper cat,

Miau, miau, miau, miau,

Meow, meow, meow, meow,

Con cascabel.

With a little bell.

Estaba en un cartucho

He was in a cardboard box

Cuando yo lo recogí,

When I picked him up,

Chiquitico y muerto de hambre,

Tiny and starving,

Botado por ahí.

Thrown away somewhere.

Le di un plato de leche

I gave him a plate of milk

Y se puso tan feliz

And he became so happy

Que metía los bigotes,

That he stuck in his whiskers,

Las patas y la nariz..

His paws, and his nose.

No se va para el tejado

He doesn't go to the roof

Porque no sabe subir.

Because he doesn't know how to climb.

Sentado en la ventana

Sitting on the window

Mira la luna salir.

He watches the moon rise.

La luna es un queso

The moon is a cheese

Metida en un mar de añil

Immersed in a sea of indigo,

Y mi gato se pregunta

And my cat wonders

Si habrá sardinas allí.

If there are sardines there.
