Yo vivia en el bosque muy contento

I walked, walked endlessly

Mornings and afternoons were mine

A la noche me tiraba a descansar.

At night, I lay down to rest

Pero un dia, vino el hombre con sus jaulas

But one day, the man came with his cages

Me en encerro y me llevo a la ciudad

He locked me up and took me to the city

En el circo me enseñaron las piruetas

In the circus, they taught me acrobatics

Y yo asi perdi mi amada libertad.

And thus, I lost my beloved freedom

Conformate me decia un tigre viejo

Settle, an old tiger told me

Nunca el techo y la comida han de faltar,

Never lack a roof and food

Solo exigen que hagamos las piruetas

They only demand that we do acrobatics

Y a los chicos podamos alegrar.

And bring joy to the children

Han pasado cuatro años de esta vida

Four years have passed in this life

Con el circo recorri el mundo asi

With the circus, I traveled the world like this

Pero nunca pude olvidarme del todo

En un pueblito alejado alguien no cerro el candado

In a remote village, someone didn't lock the padlock

Era una noche sin luna y yo deje la ciudad

It was a moonless night, and I left the city

Ahora piso yo el suelo de mi bosque

Now I step on the ground of my forest

Otra vez el verde de la libertad

Estoy viejo pero las tardes son mias
