Cuando ella me dijo que no me queria corri como un loco de pena y dolor

When she told me she didn't love me, I ran like a madman with sorrow and pain

I thought about my sadness, taking my own life, and entered a cantina to gather courage

Sentado en la mesa tomando tequila entro una gitana y al verme llorar

Sitting at the table, drinking tequila, a gypsy entered and saw me crying

Me dijo no llores no es grave tu pena yo se que la ingrata te vendra a buscar

She said, "Don't cry, your sorrow is not serious; I know the ungrateful one will come back for you"

Le puse mi mano leyo mi furturo me dijo ella vuelve no vive sin ti

I extended my hand; she read my future and said, "She will come back; she can't live without you"

Deja esa tristeza y vete seguro lo he visto en tu mano seras muy feliz

Leave that sadness and go, be sure; I've seen in your hand that you will be very happy"

Le di una moneda salio la gitana tome una guitarra y me puse a cantar

I gave her a coin; the gypsy left. I took a guitar and started to sing

Tome mas tequila y grite de alegria me puse a esperarla queriendo la amar

I took more tequila and shouted with joy; I started waiting for her, wanting to love her

Pasaron los dias, los meses, los anos y aquella esperanza de volver la ver

Days, months, and years passed, and that hope of seeing her again

Y aquella tristeza ya todo a cambiado ya a mi no me importa si piensa volver

And that sadness, everything has changed; I don't care anymore if she thinks of returning

Volvi a la cantina a tomar tequila pude hechar un grito y de gusto cantar

I returned to the cantina to drink tequila; I could shout and sing with joy

Y dandole gracias a la gitanilla que con sus mentiras me enseno a olvidar.

And giving thanks to the little gypsy who, with her lies, taught me to forget
