La Gitanilla

Cuando ella me dijo que no me quería corrí como un loco de pena y dolor

When she told me she didn't love me, I ran like a crazy man full of pain and sorrow

Pensé en mi tristeza quitarme la vida entre a una cantina por darme valor

I thought in my sadness of taking my life, I entered a cantina to gather courage

Sentado en la mesa pidiendo tequila llego una gitana y al verme llorar

Sitting at the table, asking for tequila, a gypsy woman arrived and upon seeing me cry

Me dijo no llores no es grande tu pena yo se que la ingrata te vendrá a rogar

She said, "Don't cry, your sorrow is not great, I know the ungrateful one will come to beg you"

Le puse mi mano leyó mi futuro me dijo ella vuelve no vive sin ti

I extended my hand, she read my future, she told me she'll come back, she doesn't live without you

Deja esa tristeza y vete seguro que dice en tu mano serás muy feliz

Leave that sadness and go assured that in your hand it says you'll be very happy

Le di una moneda salio la gitana tome una guitarra y me puse a cantar

I gave her a coin, the gypsy left, I took a guitar and started to sing

Pedi mas tequila brinde de alegría me puse a esperarla queriendo la mas

I asked for more tequila, I toasted in joy, waiting for her, wanting her the most

Pasaron los días, los meses, los años y aquella esperanza de volver la ver

The days passed, the months, the years, and that hope of seeing her again

Y de mi cariño ya todo a cambiado ya nada me importa si piensa en volver

And from my affection, everything has changed, nothing matters to me anymore if she thinks of returning

Vuelvo a la cantina a tomar tequila pude echar un grito y de gusto cantar

I return to the cantina to drink tequila, I could shout and sing joyfully

Y dárle las gracias a la gitanita que con sus mentiras me enseño olvidar

And thank the little gypsy who, with her lies, taught me how to forget
